Exercise the 5th year if we have to. Someone has to sacrifice for a year to get vets on the roster for a chip run. Than extend him after.
Barring an extension, if the
#Eagles
choose to exercise their 5th-year option on DeVonta Smith NEXT year, they’d pay him $15.59M in 2025, which is roughly the 20th highest-paid WR.
If they want to lock him up long term, the projection is around $25M/yr, the same as AJ Brown.

Pretty quick response about somebody else's money you said it like it's actually coming out of your own pockets and they can actually restructure his deal without it being a major cap hit why wouldn't you want the best for the young guy

I can say whatever I want it’s my own page & my own opinion. Why not just keep it as is. Doing that would fuck is in the future restructe after restructure creates dead money going to be paying the guy when he’s retired from the NFL. I’ve never once said a bad thing about smitty…

Any extension Howie gives Devonta would be structured to account for other needed signings.
They could extend him 4 years and keep his cap hit around 15M for next season. They’d just have to pay him more in the later years, but howie would likely restructure and extend him again

Poverty franchises are the kind that let a team captain dangle like that, no Howie and the Eagles. Devonta was one of the new non-OL players Kelce mentioned in his retirement speech.

Or basically extend him and sign him to like a 6-7 year deal and spread the cap hits way out…there is no way we’re not keeping this dude! Not only is he a great player, he’s an even better person. And he’s homegrown
