@WelshGasDoc The truth is, if we can facilitate a discharge, we will. This happens already. If the relatives are willing to support pending care package delivery, then we will happily discharge them. The ones that are stuck are the ones with no carers. Sending them home would be negligent.

What is the GMC position on doctors being encouraged to discharge patients without a care package in place because the Government have told them to? “I was just following orders” is not a reliable line of defence…

@peteneville65 @WelshGasDoc Too much pressure is put on families to step-in & accept the discharge home of a loved one. My sister & I experienced this several times. It wasn’t right for Mum & it affected my health & that of my sister as we were having to provide 24/7 care, look after our families & work.

@stellasalt1 @WelshGasDoc It's a reasonable thing to explore, I think. But just because the question is asked, please don't interpret that as pressure. You absolutely have the right to say no. It's all very well saying the relatives should care, but people have jobs and kids...

@peteneville65 @WelshGasDoc Patchwork unfortunately isn't going to solve this mess....!! 1st time ever I am seeing people afraid of getting sick because of the state of hospitals. And this is going to get worse I feel as I don't see anything changing in near future.
