I completely fail to understand where this stuff about diversity officers is coming from. It is of zero relevance in my view. Every big organisation has an equality and diversity policy. If that produces better staff recruitment and retention, then they are worth every penny.
For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help.
I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).

But it's not all about the old people is it. It's people using A&E because they can't see a GP. And ALL people need to use GPs. It's about time wasters who never get sanctioned. It's about treatments that should never be on the NHS. It's about waste & diversity officers.
@peteneville65
Yes, they have equality and diversity policies because there are legal requirements which need to be followed. You don't need Diversity Officers. And there is a massive recruitment problem in the NHS so how are they helping with that🤷🏻♀️

All staff members complete equality and diversity training yearly . A good HR dept should ensure good staff recruitment and retention without the need to pay an additional £100,000 a year for a diversity manager
@peteneville65
Why do you assume that having diversity officers produce better staff recruitment and retention? Big organisations have to recruit to these roles in law. I say change the law.
