When a person illegally detains another person, is it called "kidnapping" even if they are not removed to another location but instead held captive at the location they are encountered?

No sympathy for the "protester" who was attempting to illegally detain the driver. "Protesters" have removed drivers from their vehicles and subjected them to beatings.
