They say Pokémon takes you places. Today, I gave a genetic seminar to physician scientists at one of the Medical Schools in Japan. It was such a difference experience as it was a late Friday afternoon time slot and the lecture hall was full! This wouldn’t happen in the US.

The hospitality was over the top. I had a driver provide a tour of the Medical School campus. At each of the departmental introductions, the staff scientists stood in a line outside their respective laboratories to introduce their field of work. There was a tea session too.

After the lecture, I had a 2hour dinner with the President of the medical school and his staff. The entire restaurant had only 8 seats. It was a presentation of local and traditional dishes. 80% I had never heard of before. And rounds local sake. What a unique experience.

@JoshWheeler79 Yeah, I declared my travel to Japan and a Japanese Medical Liaison coordinated communication and scheduling for my lecture.
