Nope. Last year’s MMFF already showed that people are willing to go back to the theaters, with Deleter raking hundreds of millions. Ang takeaway ko diyan why others didn’t fare that well (Vice and Coco films) is because the Pinoy audience has already become more discerning (1/n)
The past 3 years was a drought for the whole Pinoy theatrical film industry. No film earned more than 100m sa regular playdate (at hindi ko isasama yung isang pelikula sksks). The industry waited for one studio’s move.
One film ended that drought.
That was A Very Good Girl.
With myriad and variety of options online, at sa bilis ng availability ng pictures sa strmg platforms, it’ll be hard to really convince the regular folks na gumastos sa mahal na tiket. So kalidad ng mga pelikula ngayon ang nagpabalik sa mga tao. Ano ambag ng AVGG diyan (2/n)
Ke pinalabas iyang AVGG na iyan or hindi, ppl would still flock the theaters basta maganda ang pagkakagawa regardless if its MMFF or regular play date. Mas discriminating na nga lang ang taste ngayon, hindi na uubra mga latak films. (3/3)

I get Hyro’s main point here. The movies shown during the year prior to AVGG did not fare well though quality naman. Kathryn’s drawing power really upped the game. Iba hatak pag MMFF because of the long holidays & the tradition to watch movies. And no foreign competition.

Hayss kahit kelan wala tayong maaasahan sa gamunggong utak ng mga kapuke. Ano bang di mo maintindihan sa regular playdate sa mmff entry? Ano bang gusto mong iparating? Sabi mo 'latak films' ang sa
@StarCinema
tapos ano QUALITY films ang bimibigay ng LUGMOK na gma films?🤭
