“I used to think
@nntaleb
was a genius until he disagreed with the ONE position I am very emotionally invested in.
He was so right about everything else and I loved his books but I think now he lost it all because he disagreed with MY thing”
Interesting twitter pattern.

Taleb is most certainly one of my favourite authors and I respect him very much.
He's just not infallible (like all of us), and therefore wrong about certain things...
(Like the one thing that starts with B and ends with N 😂)

His problem, aside from his award winning personality, is he has one tool, and applies it to everything always. And often even gets some fraction of the math wrong in doing so.

I always thought he was deliberately pretentious to cover up his averages. I wasn't surprised at all over the years by his general arrogance and wrongness on many topics.

I'm fine with disagreeing with him on stuff but how rude he is on Twitter is incredibly off-putting. You don't see him trying to dunk on folks for no reason if you only read his work.

@nntaleb
I disagreed with his opinion on a topic, I slightly challenged him on that and then I let it there. Does not mean I have to shove it again and again for show off. Also I dont expect anyone, first me, to get everything right. Most of all I am grateful for the things he taught me.

100%. Even as someone who has a different opinion than him on (surprise) BTC, I still recognize his profound insights and acknowledge I might be wrong and it goes to zero. With that knowledge and recognition, I limit my downside as Seneca would have instructed.

Goes the other way around as well. People who thought him arrogant, rude etc. But now that he agrees with the ONE thing they're heavily emotionally invested in, he's great.
