Why not use a Tunisian or even any Mediterranean actor?
The lumping of North African with Sub Saharan Africa is like lumping up the Lebanese with the Chinese because we’re both on Asia.

Could Hollywood picked a different skin tone? Sure. But Denzel is a damn good actor who is a draw. You don’t cast an unknown into a film of this size & scope. Its why we are getting Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon instead of a Corsican or a French actor.

Because people won't invest unless they know they can make money. Because of the Marvelizstion, few bankable movie stars.
Most are over 50. Samuel L, Liam Neeson are in their 70s. People would rather see them than an unknown.
