Soon the people who assume that this book has sold untold numbers of copies in the US and gotten us rich might be right.

@anthgarrett There have been sales bumps before but not exactly like the one that *might* be developing.

@nyrbclassics Did Stoner make it to BookTok or something? It's about 25 days late for what I'd assume it's annual sale surge would be

@wykstrad We’re not entirely sure if that’s what’s causing the surge—but it might be.

@nyrbclassics I work at Powell’s. We can’t keep enough copies of Stoner. They come in and out they go!

In case anyone doubts the above, here is a chart showing sales through bookstores, online and real-world. NB the highest sales were about 7 years after initial publication. But by our standards it was always a strong seller. And that includes before 2008!

@nyrbclassics It’s that time of the year again. The time for me to remind people that Stoner is not good. Not a cult classic. Not a so-bad-it’s-good kind of good. Just boring. Don’t fall for it! See you soon for another reminder.

@nyrbclassics In 2013 "Fifty years after it was first published to little fanfare, Stoner, the story of an academic whose life is full of disappointments, has become an unexpected bestseller. "

@nyrbclassics Brilliant book. It lingers. And I hope my purchase yesterday of The Book of Blam bears similar fruit.
