Cheers to 190 years of the LIRR! 🚉
Founded on this date in 1834, we are honored to have served the New York region for nearly two centuries.
Whether you're a longtime commuter or just hopped aboard, we thank you for riding with us!
We are monitoring the potential for severe weather tomorrow as confidence has increased for severe thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon particularly in the Catskills & the Southern Tier.
Strong winds up to 70 mph, heavy rain, hail, tornados are possible. Monitor your local forecast.
The risk for severe storms is now a 3 out of 5 for NEPA, the Catskills, and a small portion of the Southern Tier. A line of storms is expected to develop over CNY and then move south Sun aftn/evening. While damaging winds will be the main threat, all hazards will be in play.
A line of showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across central PA and western NY and move towards the region Sunday evening. Some of the storms when they reach our area may be strong to severe, mainly NW of NYC. Visit for details.
We are monitoring the potential for severe weather tomorrow. After initial clouds & showers, we will watch if any breaks of sun occur in the P.M, mainly south of I-90, before a cold front arrives. Storms may become severe w/ damaging winds the main concern.

The partial eclipse has begun and regardless of cloud cover, skies will begin to get darker! – Remember, NO STOPPING on the side of the road to view the eclipse. Our first responders need that space in case of emergencies.

: Operation centers have been set up to monitor traffic across the Thruway system throughout the day. This allows us to quickly respond to emergencies and keep traffic moving. If you are traveling, expect an increase in traffic and DO NOT park on the highway.
DOT is fully activated at WNY operations centers in Buffalo, Cheektowaga and Niagara Falls to maintain coordination and communications with our partners while we monitor and manage real-time traffic through traffic cameras, drones and boots on the ground
