I have a child with speech apraxia. He was 9 when all the mask BS started. He had only been spontaneously speaking for 4 years at that point. He still spoke softly, slowly, and deliberately. It was hard to hear him. He was terrified of having to communicate1/
2/through a mask. I promised him I wouldn’t wear one and neither would he. That meant we got kicked out of public places often, and yelled at by strangers.
3/when I think back at his speech therapy, and how his speech pathologist had to physically touch his mouth and help him form words, and how he intently watched our mouths,
4/I wonder how many other children with speech apraxia missed out on crucial services, and their development is stunted over masked therapy and not being properly guided.
5/Public health, Fauci, the teachers unions, and everyone else who forced masks on the population, you deserve to rot. You hurt the most vulnerable among us and that is why I’ll push back forever.

I feel this heartbreak Nicole. My daughter was 7 when this hysteria began. She regressed horribly and is just now starting to gain her confidence back.

I’m confused. Weren’t we told by a well established agency that looks out for children specifically, there was nothing to worry about?

Great Mom! Deaf & hearing impaired were robbed of all communication. Many kids with disabilities regressed 2-4 years. Many will never recover from losses.

The speech therapists who masked after they were not required to do so or who thought zoom therapy was just fine still make me very angry.

Apraxia of speech is so difficult for the children who endure it. I recently worked to diagnose a student with dyslexia/ dysgraphia as well. So much of the world is hard for him to access. Words, spoken and in print. 😞 I’m sorry for the further harm that masking causes.

I am so sorry for your child! Apraxia is already such a hard thing to work through both the physical aspect as well as the emotional toll.

If you live in a captive state like CA, IL, NY, NM, MA, OR, NJ or WA I feel your pain. I have 2 boys - 8 & 10. When I think of what they've been through, my BP rises. So from 1 parent to another, when they try to bring back masks, and u know they will, you have to

I wear bilateral hearing aids, and rely on lip reading. It was horrendous communicating with mask wearers. Im so sorry that you & your son had to go through this. Masks serve no purpose and should never ever be brought back.
