DJ was Silver Slugger year after year. I don't think the Rockies were kidding themselves about his value, but a small market team has to make some tough budget decisions. Still hurts, tho.

I’m no Bridich apologist, but no way for Rox to know that MLB would juice the ball, making high average hitters like DJ turn into high average hitters with power. At the time of the decision, it wasn’t indefensible. This does not excuse him for all of his other awful signings tho
