Fond memories of this; the Simputer project and the FOSS scene in Bangalore at the time got me interested in tech⦠the ambition and execution remains a timeless inspiration.

I got one too! The use of the accelerometer was fun and was my first experience with that tech. My fav game was the "maze ball" thing where you tilt the device to roll a virtual ball through a maze into the centre spot.
@srikumarks
So cool! Sadly, I don't think I got one for myself - although I should have! I was finishing with school and I don't think I had entered the I'll-grab-all-the-things-that-have-a-chip-inside phase of my life yet :D
I very much remember it as a talk of town phenomenon though :)
@neeldhara
Yeah. These four are my heroes. Perfect example and blend of academic excellence turned into entrepreneurial ventures. Ramesh Hariharan was my recommender for PhD applications.
@somakaditya
How wonderful! I also lucked out in having had a chance to meet Vinay when I was in grad school (IIRC) and attending Ramesh's lectures at IISc during my postdoc :)
@neeldhara
Ooh! I was part of B-LUG for a while! Was even part of the Linux tent and organizing during one of the first IT fests in Bangalore!
The Simputer was after my time though but remember reading about it.
@sibinmohan
Ah, awesome - I remember being at a couple of events (albeit hopelessly lost), and a few meetups as well - can't recall if they were LUGs or just general FOSS enthusiast groups... and had organized a small FOSS awareness event at Mount Carmel College π«£

Read this article today in Times of India and was wondering what all those involved might be doing right now. Now is the best time to startup for deeptech π
