of course they don't read! that's the irony: they weren't going to buy the book anyway, & possibly don't buy anyone's books, ever. when you have a concerted political agenda, as in the Elizabeth Gilbert case, there is no literary aspect to the issue at all, just sheer politics.

Readers will be hurt, too, as their freedom of choice will have been compromised. To the pubs, I want to ask: 'What about all the people who would have wanted to buy and read the book? Are you not in a for-profit business of selling literature?' Boycotters don't read anyway!
