🤬My situation shows the damage that one anti-masker can cause. This family exposed our school on May 10/11. Then, despite symptoms, they went to public park on May 16th and played with my son. Island Health said its a complex case with many links Don't let your guard down yet!

@KatrinaCBurnaby Thank you Katrina! Ughhhhh, cooped up with kids for two weeks is such a challenge. Good thing we bought all those Pokémon cards last week 😂

@jonny_vi Thank you sir! Gonna be a long two weeks cooped up with kids. Thankfully playoffs are on - it’s nice to watch good hockey teams for once...

@mattdellok SO - I get why your mad BUT you're vaccinated. It really shouldn't matter. What I wouldn't give for 2 weeks forced quarantine. The amount of movies I could crush. The board games with the kids. Sounds like the good life, to me. Enjoy it man!

@TownManny Appreciate the positive outlook :) I am worried about the kids health, including long-term issues. My vaccine is only 7 days old. But, yes I’m going to try and enjoy spending extra time with the kids. They’re only young once :)

@mattdellok Just heard you on CKNW, you've got a couple things wrong... Only your son has to self isolate, the rest monitor for symptoms, and only then if youve had direct contact from island health. Neighborhood grapevine notification is meaningless.

@JonDurnin Yes that’s right. We were told my 8 year old son could stay in his room for 2 weeks alone. He’s a little kid, he’s lonely, needs support. It would cause serious mental health trauma to lock him in a room alone for two weeks. So, we are locked down as a family.

@mattdellok This is so upsetting. The selfishness and ignorance of this family is beyond belief.

@mattdellok @richardzussman This scenario has been playing out in schools since last year. Children having sleepovers, vacations, indoor visits with other families. School staff begged for masks, better ventilation, lower density, vaccines for months. No acknowledgement of aerosol spread. Awful.

@mattdellok very frustrating and maddening. STAY HOME when sick is such a simple rule. I guess you're lucky they even decided to go for a test... :(

@mattdellok @richardzussman This is why we need vaccine passports. No passport? Go back inside. Screw your rights. It’s a pandemic.

@mattdellok @richardzussman I’m surprised they were even honest with public health and told them they had contact with your son.

@mattdellok @richardzussman @IRPlawyer is there not some cause of action for a civil case against someone who willfully and negligently ignores government guidance and causes loss of quality of life and lost wages to these people who now have to isolate?

@mattdellok @richardzussman There should be a stiff penalty code for ignoramus folks. Nuff said.

@mattdellok Good luck and good health to you and your family. How selfish that family was. There should be some consequence if they knowingly did things making others unsafe
