Itβs only weird because all the west coast states would be much smaller if they had been exposed to the influx of settlers in early America. People didnβt reach all of the Midwest/West Coast for almost 100 years really.
It would be inverse basically due to proximity to Europe.

On a normal map I'm always taken by how close the southern great lakes/midwest areas are to the upper reaches of the Gulf Coast. On this map that distance looks downright tiny!

Itβs crazy for me because it brings into even sharper relief the differences between the coasts. Like damn the east coast is LUMPY (I hereby ordain lumpy as a suitable term for geological features)

Mind absolutely blown at Texas. "Well, THAT one's not right, for sure," I said. "The eastern border of Texas does not bulge out like that." Then actually checked. My God.
