Adrian Monroe was moving his entire family to Los Angeles yesterday from his apartment in Oakland on Harrison Street. In 4 minutes someone took off with the U-Haul containing everything he owned including his father-in-law‘s ashes.

Adrian said that the truck was locked and the keys were in the house. The suspect hotwired it within four minutes.

I've had this happen to me except everything was in the house but not unpacked and they just took all the boxes we had in there while we went to get the last load. That's a horrible way to be welcomed to the neighborhood.

A rental truck? Previously rented by whom? Were copies of the keys made/shaved key? Looks like a targeted theft (truck number) based on ease & rapidity of departure. Looks like the old procedure of Grandpa sitting on the rear bumper might en vogue once again.
