People love to waste time optimizing transactions fees (eg by switching from Wise to Mercury) But the time you spend optimizing for 0.5% lower transaction fees on a $10,000 transaction saving you $50 could be spend increasing your income by much more

@kumailht So idiotic Only makes sense if you work for eg Google and do A LOT of business travel (which is a miserable life) and then you can save the points personally and get a few holiday trips Still not worth it imho

@levelsio He was traveling A LOT so it was financially lucrative.. but I still think it was negative ROI on time. I assume they enjoy it, because it doesn't make financial sense.

@kumailht @levelsio I talked to a couple at MicroConf who had a phone/messaging business. They found a credit card that had spectacular rates for phone expenses (which is a massive part of their business) — they haven’t paid for travel with money in years. It makes sense for _some_. Too much…

@kumailht @levelsio I always felt this way too! Like, woopdydoo you earned $1k in credit card points. Just make an extra $1k/mo and grow that.
