🥳 Kotlin 1.0 was released 7 years ago!
Since then, it's evolved from a Java alternative to an ecosystem that allows writing code for server-side, mobile, frontend, data science, and more.
Concise. Cross-platform. Fun. 💜
When and why did you start using Kotlin?

September of that 1.0 year, because a bunch of folks, including
@lime_cl
, were writing about it, and it seemed to solve long standing problems I had with other programming languages like Java.

I have been using it ever since it reached 1.0 and never looked back 🥰 it was not always easy to convince colleagues and clients to move forward with it but the language had strong arguments even at its early days ☺️

Started use kotlin in 2017, was involved in a new project and we decided use kotlin because it is faster, more productive, easier to use and less verbose than java.

I’m new from Kotlin and I’m in love of that. I’m using to write nativa code to android devices and maybe I’ll start using to write code on server side

I have started using Kotlin since 2017❤️. In fact, I have used it mainly in backend development. I have coded many micro services using it. I’m big fun of nullsafety, functional programming Kotlin style and facilities, immutability, extension functions, pattern matching, …
@kotlin
It’s great if you’re writing an end-user product, but if you’re writing APIs that have to be Java compatible, and remain compatible across Kotlin and Java upgrades, then it’s a bit of a nightmare.

Started using Kotlin for Android back in 2017. Instantly fell in love and became my go-to lang for anything and everything. My profs didn't even recognize the lang when I submitted my homework in it.
