TW: suicide mention
All the Bright Places on Netflix is literally about mental illness and suicide so please don’t go into it thinking it’s some cutesy rom-com like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. I know people who were seriously triggered by the book.
Knowing Netflix’s history with trigger warnings and depicting suicide, I do not trust them at all with this, especially after seeing how the trailer framed the movie

The movie isn’t out yet but Netflix does not have a good history with trigger warnings and the trailer frames it as a cute romance

Am I sadistic for loving it when dark films are portrayed as light and happy in the trailers, just to watch it and be shocked by how much it fucked me up? Because I personally love that shit.

This is one of the issues I had with the trailer as well. I hope they give warning when it releases, but seeing how they treated 13 Reasons Why, I'm not confident.

I don’t trust this author period. Holding Up the Universe has a slew of problems even before it was published, so I can only imagine how her first book botched serious mental health discussion. It looks extremely romanticized and misleading.

The book messed me up big time. I tried to base my personality and feeling all around finch’s actions, as I wasn’t in a good head space. I don’t think I’ll be watching the movie for the same reason.

The book was something I felt I could relate to at the time (though I’d never read it again), but I’m interested in the movie bc I’m prepared for what happens and I’m in a better mental state, but I know it’s very triggering & needs proper warnings, the trailer is very misleading
