By saying this, you are denying that trauma bonds exist with abused children and their parents or adult survivors of childhood abuse, as well as women or men that are abused in relationships. Trauma bonds are the same as Stockholm Syndrome, it is just another name.

It’s more like a pseudo-scientific explanation to damage a victim’s credibility and undercut her legitimate critique of police incompetence than an actual theory. Few of us are likely to understand it’s origin story, many of us are likely to think that we know what it means

Jaycee Dugard, Elizabeth Smart and other victims all hate the concept of SS, they went along with their captors because they were horrifically abused and doing what they needed to do to protect themselves/their children, they did NOT love or feel sympathy for their kidnappers!

The way I've tried explaining this story to my sister multiple times with sources and she just refuses to believe me because she "studied psychology in college" in like 2004. Psychology has advanced so much since then, anyway! I just feel crazy talking to her about anything.
