When I hear Kirby Smart say Georgia really doesn't like recruiting kids who don't participate in high school spring ball makes me think of Ohio High School. His point was they want kids that go through spring ball because they're more developed and come in more ready to play.

Are they only referring to 7 on 7 ? My kids went thru this in south carolina but when i was raised in Ohio and played HS football back in the 80’s this was not a thing…we were only allowed to weight train

Some do 7 on 7 others do 10-12 full practices that ends with a showcase game. College coaches from all over travel to watch these kids in spring ball practices which gives them further evaluation.

Spring ball consists of 1 month in Georgia I believe. 2 weeks in florida. I’m not buying that 1 extra month of pads and practice separates kids that much. Don’t think it’s as big of an issue as people make it out to be.

Spring ball is a double-edged sword. I think many Texas/Cali players have been over ranked due to over coaching and exposure. Texas/Cali teams have lofty recruiting rankings, but minimal on field results. Plus population lends recruiting services to target higher populated areas.
