For me personally, the most painful aspect of Trump's rise has been the damage it has caused to my faith in my fellow Americans. I do not understand how a person can watch what he says and does and still believe he belongs in the Oval Office.

Mr. Bookman, I keep remembering black coworkers who would shake their heads when I expressed confidence in the integrity of federal public officials. I was so naรฏve. I knew the Alabama Legislature was dumb and corrupt at an early age from direct observation, but not the feds.
