Larry Phillips was incredible. He would start in the back and pass every car in 20-30 laps for the win. He won just about every week. I really enjoyed getting to race against him in the late 90’s.

@jamiemcmurray He should be in Charlotte in the Hall of Fame. He won 80% of his races in the NASCAR late model series. I watched him as a kid drive an open wheel modified in 60’s in Joplin.

@jamiemcmurray Watched him in Bolivar MO. Wasn't a question of if he would win, but how many laps it would take him to get the lead.

@jamiemcmurray @LegendsNascar Mark and Rusty took turns running second to Larry Phillips at Tri-state speedway in the late 70's. Larry was such a great driver. He definitely belongs in the Hall of Fame.

@jamiemcmurray Larry Phillips was great. I was lucky enough to see him at Lake Hill speedway and I-44 Speedway. What a great time for short track racing. Larry and Russ Wallace, what a great night of racing!!

@jamiemcmurray If I remember right Mike Wallace raced I-44 every weekend to try to win the championship instead of Larry Phillips. We went a few weekends to watch but don’t remember the final outcome.

@jamiemcmurray We have a Larry Phillips car. My husband got it from Larry in 1982 and won our local track championship and 2nd in the State when we were NASCAR sanctioned. Last time the car was driven I drove it in 1999 and won 3 main events.
