Mama is one of many hats I wear.. but it’s the most precious to me. #ATS2022 was the longest I’ve ever been away from my baby. #momguilt is real & was exacerbated by people asking who is taking care of the baby etc… Do early career dads get asked this too? Mom & Dad polls⬇️

@jacepeabody @atsearlycareer @careyjans @MariaCBasil @KaminskiMed @leticiakawano @JeremieLever @JulieSilverMD @laxswamy @Eickelberg_MD Interesting thought.. I am always asked and I never took it in a “negative” way but rather people trying to either re-assure me or curious for their own situations. I also do ask that question but only to those I know well 😊 I recently flew my daughter to Lebanon for care 🤷‍♀️

@Denise_Al_Alam @atsearlycareer @careyjans @MariaCBasil @KaminskiMed @leticiakawano @JeremieLever @JulieSilverMD @laxswamy @Eickelberg_MD I never minded when the question came from other moms or people I knew well! There is definitely a sense of solidarity with other working parents because the childcare component is really tricky. My parents are even moving to AL to help when I go back to med school 🙌🏻.

@jacepeabody @atsearlycareer @careyjans @Denise_Al_Alam @MariaCBasil @KaminskiMed @leticiakawano @JeremieLever @JulieSilverMD @laxswamy @Eickelberg_MD My son said “they needed a Mamma so our nanny helped Dad”! That was a major blow added to mom guilt 🤦🏻‍♀️

@tkulkarn1 @atsearlycareer @careyjans @Denise_Al_Alam @MariaCBasil @KaminskiMed @leticiakawano @JeremieLever @JulieSilverMD @laxswamy @Eickelberg_MD That had to feel just a little validating though right? On Sunday, our toddler was being a real handful so husband and manny brought her over to my dad’s. It took 3 men to wrangle V, yet I do it solo most weekends. I felt validated that momming is hard and I do it well 😝

@jacepeabody @atsearlycareer @careyjans @Denise_Al_Alam @MariaCBasil @KaminskiMed @JeremieLever @JulieSilverMD @laxswamy @Eickelberg_MD Jacelyn I sometimes too get this question. I see it as ppl being curious on how others sort out complex stuff (how to conciliate things that seem to be apparently conflicting): we are all on the same boat ❤️

@leticiakawano @atsearlycareer @careyjans @Denise_Al_Alam @MariaCBasil @KaminskiMed @JeremieLever @JulieSilverMD @laxswamy @Eickelberg_MD This was my first time away and it was bittersweet. Our girl is almost a year and a half. #ATS2022 filled my cup, I loved being unencumbered by coordinating her schedule and just being able to learn and enrich myself for once, but at the same time, I missed her like crazy.

@jacepeabody @atsearlycareer @Denise_Al_Alam @MariaCBasil @KaminskiMed @leticiakawano @JeremieLever @JulieSilverMD @laxswamy @Eickelberg_MD Have gotten asked this all too often, or questions about why my husband took a pat leave or was excited when a new job offered better pat leave. Incredibly frustrating, both in terms of being on the receiving end of comments + of diminishing the incredible dad my husband is. 🤬

@careyjans @atsearlycareer @Denise_Al_Alam @MariaCBasil @KaminskiMed @leticiakawano @JeremieLever @JulieSilverMD @laxswamy @Eickelberg_MD Right?! There are other people in our village and we do what is necessary to make it work. @JeremieLever @kennemur_jared + daycare were miraculously able to manage the baby for a week. The assumptions are just annoying 🫠

@jacepeabody @atsearlycareer @careyjans @Denise_Al_Alam @MariaCBasil @KaminskiMed @leticiakawano @JeremieLever @JulieSilverMD @laxswamy @Eickelberg_MD I am asked things like this frequently and get frustrated, as my daughter has a fully functioning (and very supportive) Dad. Goes right up there with people who assume that I don’t work full time because I have a kid (nothing wrong with LTFT working, but don’t make assumptions!)
