It’s so fucking crazy that we built a robot, shipped it to another planet, and it’s rolling around taking photos and sending them back to us
I record convos w ppl I meet using iPhone to get a transcription I can send to ChatGPT to deepen understanding and get new ideas
but I find iPhone kind of sucks for this, kills my battery, accidentally turn off recordings, so got a dedicated recorder for this: Sony UX570

This kind of stuff is so absurd to me. In day to day life it's hard to fully appreciate that we are all living on this floating sphere that is so old, so much older than us, so many beings have been here for us, and this sphere is spinning through space at incomprehensible speed
alright, both ends of toronto now have spaces, here we go

there's new momentum in toronto, but now every second that goes by without key spaces being formed on both ends of the city is a dilution of that momentum
@3CC0__
It sucks that Apple doesn’t make computers with this kind of aesthetic any more. It’s been awhile now since they’ve been using this kind of super refined minimal metal aesthetic, I wonder if that will ever change into something more experimental and expressive again.
Thinking about a new space in the west end of Toronto, in Roncesvalles, that functions as space for a creative studio, high quality coworking, and community events for adults and kids rooted in new technology and creativity.
We might have found a space today, lmk if interested!
New Personal Website: internetvin dot tv
I created this because I will freelance this year.
I direct both software and film projects.
I want to help founders and multidisciplinary teams explore new territory.
ty for everything so far.
I wish Toronto had some kind of really high quality meet up where talented people would show up and each demo what they are currently working on in a structured, respectful and entertaining format.
I'm getting curious about just starting this myself as an experiment.
I don't like making the best things
Feb 16, 2023
I used to love blogging, but now it's been a few years since I've written a blog post. What changed? At some point, everything got serious.
I started to only want to publish the best things, so I didn't publish at all. I stopped…

this is real? how does anyone process and accept the reality of our existence? it's so weird to be this human thing, so weird to be on a crazy spaceship sphere thing that's orbiting other spheres and the one in the middle is this continual burning flame heating everything
kicked it w
@ansonyuu
in Waterloo, crazy brilliant, lucky to catch her early in her journey, endless creative capacity, will prob change the world or something
Toronto master plan:
west end vs east end conflict creates momentum
each end one ups the other, this creates necessary infrastructure
SF makes a mistake and wrongs us
this unites both ends to take on SF
all of this inspires everyone who left toronto to fly back home
Updates to toronto dot page:
You can think of this as a kind of onboarding to Toronto's scene
Focused home page with a selection of interesting individuals willing to make time to walk with you
Added "General Directory" to explore other interesting people
A lot more soon.

in Roncy, v fast learner, distills complex concepts to essence, willing to try things, experimental w AI, actively making with AI too, inspired me a lot today, lucky I met him early in his career, going way way beyond me
eating banh mi in mississauga right now, vietnamese people really took the baguette from the french and just did a fucking 360 degree through the legs dunk with it
One of the best decisions I made in 2023 was I stopped being so insular and I started going on walks with people who I thought were interesting and cool each week
I found doing this made me happy, it gave me new ideas, helped me learn new things, and also lead to new friendships
some serious convos happening right now behind the scenes about a new hackathon weekend in roncesvalles toronto, high quality, not lame, we help pair designers, developers, and wild cards, going down first week of march ish
For as long as I can remember, all I wanted to do was get the fuck out of toronto and this whole area, I would finesse every gig into leaving, but man, been looking at old photos, thinking about my past, how I came up here, I dismissed this whole area without understanding it.
@inversedotcom
It’s just absolutely insane that all of this is possible to discover by some evolved form of monkeys on a floating rock flying around an exploding star, and that this kind of thing seems to be happening everywhere in space. Mind bending.
made this vid with one of my best friends about
@jeffstaple
12 years ago, was just starting out, felt crazy to fly to NYC and bring this footage back to toronto, felt like we were changing the game or something, felt so ahead, still the best vid about Jeff imo, it still holds up
current theories on Toronto:
creative throughput is limited due to a lack of integrated efforts
creative throughput could be greater than most think but no one knows to what degree cause of lack of integrated efforts
city is unique in that, it has equal or greater potential…
I’m so tired of this
@tommytrxnh
dude talking about how he can beat me in a race, it’s so dumb, like I have so much work to do right now, but whatever, this dude finally showed up at my place to settle this and I made sure it was documented so he can shut his mouth
last night, discussed what a Toronto API might look like with some friends
the discussion lead to clarity and break throughs for me, mainly that we might be able to increase the city’s creative throughput by creating some kind of new cultural software layer in Toronto

It feels like there’s validity to this but the other thing is just that it’s actually not that easy to figure out what is worth building. Many things are not worth building.

One my primary input methods into ChatGPT is my voice, using the iOS app. I find it really improves the quality of my prompt because I can share lots of details about what I'm working on or thinking about very quickly, and in a very raw way. I'm finding voice input is more…

Listening to Eminem when he was coming up and breaking into his prime was unreal, at the time, it was like he sounded so much better, more innovative, and just so far ahead of everyone else. His skill was undeniable.

Don’t think anyone will read this, but this answer to the question “how do you obtain money to live with and to acquire the materials and tools with which to work?” by Buckminster Fuller changed my life and also goes down as some of the craziest shit I’ve read in a book lol
There will be 8~ demos at New Demos 1 (ND1) across desktop apps, mobile apps, AI, speculative technology, and interaction design, some of the demos will be the first time the projects have ever been shown publicly.
last few months I've been the happiest I've been in a long time, worked out that laughing, cracking jokes, is the most important thing to me, can't compromise on it, got waaaay serious, don't want to make that mistake again, so tracking 'Stupid Shit' I do now, need to stick w it

current state
Toronto is disconnected. Not a lot of serendipity. Doesn’t feel like we are part of something special
future state
Toronto is getting interconnected. So much serendipity. It feels like the start of something special
I’m in Waterloo all day today, part of multiple visits to better understand what happened there in the past, and what’s happening there now.
Potential itinerary is
- Socratica
- campus tour and research
- uptown
- dinner

after new demos 2, tommy and I will solve access to VC in toronto, montreal, and vancouver, once and for all, for everyone, for good, and forever, our solution is actually already in the works, the whole thing is already almost solved.
@internetvin
I rather build a company in Toronto than in SF, but sometimes you need access to a VC. Here are some 2022 numbers...
San Francisco ➝ $52.4 billion
New York ➝ $19.8 Billion
Southern California (aggregate) ➝ $12.6 Billion
Seattle ➝ $4.5 Billion
Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver…
to save toronto, I know brampton is the final boss, not afraid man, been training years for this, I will find every gem, I'll go back to that McDonalds by ray lawson in a beige 2002 pathfinder and order a fillet o fish w extra tartar sauce while listening to Many Men if I have to
Trying to get a passport renewed in Canada is absolutely kafkaesque. Like I’ve now driven 3h to random service offices and waited hours and hours for appointment. In the end the system is down and “it’s not their fault” and no we can’t help you. Now have to restart the entire…

this is the most important event in toronto right now, the format and execution is the best way to connect with interesting people who like making things, we need this weekly now.

. There’s something wonderful about having some friends together (old and new) in a cozy place to share things that are hard to express in words alone. A little sample of what these amazing creative people shared ↓
Structuring your day to repeat things that matter to you gives you this feeling that you are living your life with intentionality, which gives you a kind of confidence. It makes you feel like you can figure out difficult things & rise to higher levels of ability by continuing on.
Not sure if these tweets actually work, but looking for art directors and animators for a documentary feature film about a new technology. Hard to be specific about style rn, but looking to work w someone with a unique voice, a strong artist that can help create a world. Plz dm
