@hrcastor I feel exactly the same when I am writing about infant mortality or baby farming in Victorian Manchester. .... yesterday was challenged by a tutor to if I could write my thesis as a story starting with "Once upon a time" all I will say the story was darker and far more left wing

@hrcastor It's one of the reasons I prefer doing medieval history. It's sufficiently remote that you can feel detached: you don't expect feudal barons to be anything but bastards...
