A circa 1905 photo of new rowhomes/roads in Canton. During the early 1900s, new jobs created by the Canton Company and other industrial companies caused a boom in residential building in the neighborhood. For example, from 1914-1916, a thousand houses were built in Canton.

The most unique home on the list has to be this one in Canton - which is two rowhomes that have been combined to create an open, industrial home. In the second picture, you can see the old sally port that used to be between the two homes.

The pool was filled in and covered with grass, blue pool tiles were added, the original pool equipment was painted blue, four columns at the top of the steps were built to symbolize where the old field house was, where tickets were sold. Some other art elements have since faded.

Checked out the new Lexington Market today… Most of the stalls are still under construction, but it looks great!

Today, it remains an important reminder of the city’s history. It’s tucked away in the park - google Memorial Pool to see its exact location. The city’s remaining pool in the park underwent a $10M renovation last year - I haven’t been yet, but it looks fun!

I really like this Federal Hill home that’s coming soon, but there’s something kind of funky about each of the bathrooms... First, here’s the rest of the house:

It was half the size of the parks other pool for white residents. It was so busy, it required swimmers to swim in shifts. A plaque at the site has quotes of residents who shared fond memories growing up at the pool, despite the difficult and unjust times it operated under.
