I am half Egyptian and half British. I don't think I have ever “seen myself represented” on TV or in the movies. That has had exactly zero impact on my life.

Speaking as a New Mexico resident who teaches a lot of Hispanic students, the under-representation of Hispanic people in TV/movies (relative to other minorities) is really annoying.
