We also have a tendency to discount and/or ignore the international success of our films. BLOOD QUANTUM, despite it's theatrical being cancelled in Canada due to COVID, was a smash success in the USA on Shudder and also sold to 30 countries internationally.

It would be immeasurably more helpful if - among other things - the CBC reviewed Canadian films when they were in cinemas.

It doesn't help that our film awards have been consolidated with TV and everything else into an absurd mess that's spread over a week of online announcements, with a paltry one hour pre-recorded broadcast of the "highlights" from all categories. What other country does that??
