I think one of the most fascinating thing about Homestuck (this is a Homestuck post I'm sorry) is the way it captures early-to-mid-2000s American internet + pop culture - and in a way that feels like an earnest snapshot of the time, rather than a collection of dated references

The other most fascinating thing is how insanely well the early comic (pre-act 5) depicts the isolating experience of being a kid who lives online, but in a way where I doubt the author was doing it intentionally

It is an unfortunate fact that in my partial Homestuck reread I have somehow become an "early Homestuck (pre-act 5) was the best Homestuck" truther. It is unfortunate bc that period has the second most amount of slurs in the whole comic (first amount is whenever karkat is there)
