On masks, there has been only one serious randomised control study, conducted in Denmark over two months with thousands of participants, by scientists who openly said they wanted to prove masks effective.
It concluded masks make no difference.
And was quickly suppressed.

So far, most studies found little to no evidence for the effectiveness of cloth face masks in the general population, neither as personal protective equipment nor as a source control.
@gazcon
I read that study and if you have an M.D. like I do you would have seen that the study was flawed and the p value was very high which meant that the results are comparable to something done randomly. I am not even sure why the journal of Internal Medicine would even publish it.

They are effective. Psychologically. Think about when people cover their mouth or face with their hand as a reaction. Itβs teaching us to be silent and afraid. Theyβre doing the job well.

Iβve literally seen particles in the air penetrate the mask I was wearing. Even the N95 arenβt enough for actual viral protection.
@PeteG1001
The publication of the study was delayed for weeks because major medical journals refused to publish it. The media has almost entirely ignored it.
It would have got wall to wall coverage had it found masks to be useful.

@NeoMordecai
Masks are extremely effective and doing exactly what the government want from them. Nothing to do with infection.
Now, breaking spirit, de-humanising, control and compliance are a different matter.
@gazcon
@RougeNoirUK
The function of the mask is to dehumanise, condition and prepare the public for the next phase. They have nothing at all to do with containing infection.
@ColinPieman
Surgeon's don't wear masks to stop the spread of viruses.
They wear them to stop them spraying bacteria laden saliva into the open wound they're leaning over. Bacteria being bigger than viruses.
