Chennai is great and all but is also terrible for someone who just wants to sit quietly in a public place without having to talk to someone else. The entire city wears a deserted look post 9 p.m. and it feels ridiculously unsafe. And no one's allowed to sit in beaches past 10 p.m

I don't want to sit in a cafe or a restaurant among noisy y00ths who have massive groups of friends. I just want to sit quietly and maybe think.

I've never understood why we are never allowed to sit on the beach! Ridiculous. There are anti social elements but with proper lighting and policing, it should be fine.

When I lived in Besant Nagar, this was my pet peeve. Would dig our feet in sand only to hear the whistle and siren screeching ponga ponga !

Thiruvanmiyur beach (not the main beach) is pretty empty and very safe thanks to police patrol all the time.
