@NocturnalDesign @DanRather The “power grab” - to use your reference - is actually from the Reps who don’t want to loosen their grip: there is a demand that should be discussed, not ridiculed. Isn’t that how democracy is supposed to work?

The idea that you can’t add states to the Union is pretty much undercut by a flag with more than 13 stars.

@DanRather The idea that DC needs to be the 51st in order to give its citizens representation is pretty much undercut by the fact that it'd be easier to merge it back into Maryland. Insisting on statehood is nothing but a naked power grab by the Dems.

@alexandervoelz @DanRather The "demand" can be satisfied by reincorporating DC into Maryland. Democracy would be satisfied, unless the whole move is really just to secure two more seats in the senate for your party.

@NocturnalDesign @DanRather Democracy is satisfied when you discuss and vote, not when you suggest an alternate solution and speculate 😐

@alexandervoelz @NocturnalDesign @DanRather It seems 99% can't overcome the 1% most of the time.

@alexandervoelz @NocturnalDesign @DanRather Then I assume you support western Washington and Oregon splitting from the more leftist coastal regions to from a new state, or joining Idaho? Or splitting California? Or separating rural Illinois from Chicagoland?

@alexandervoelz @NocturnalDesign @DanRather Thankfully it has been discussed. And we haven't given statehood to DC largely due to the fact that they don't want a state being responsible for making federal laws that affect every other state.
