Tyre Nichols said simply, “I’m just trying to get home.”  We all are.  And home has never felt further away.  I grieve for Tyre, his family, our community, and our nation. We must do more to fulfill our responsibility to realize justice for all in America.

@darrenwalker #TyreNichols Police can detain an individual if they can articulate a crime they suspect him or her of committing. If they can’t and physically hold a suspect from free movement, that’s kidnapping. I haven’t heard the “crime” Nichols was stopped for yet. Therefore kidnapping.

@darrenwalker Watching him call out for his mama. My 14 yr old daughter had to console me. Thank you for your words, because I am so angry.

@darrenwalker The best quote I have heard this crushing weekend is Baldwin’s, “How long do we have to wait for your progress?”🥺😢😡

@darrenwalker I want to believe we can make things better. But the steady regularity of evil and horror is so discouraging. It's up to all of us to be an advocate for decency and to speak up and speak out whenever we have opportunity. No one can save us but ourselves.
