Not hockey but important and deeply personal. My wife’s blog about our (adopted) daughter meeting her birth mom. I wasn’t there but my heart was in my throat as I read this. All families experience unique wins and losses. This is a victory.

@darenmillard @ByScottCullen I enjoyed reading this. As an adoptive parent I know many of these feelings well. Being open and trusting is a righteous path. Thank you.

@darenmillard Thanks for sharing Daren, this is so special ❤️ I was adopted at birth & my mom met my birth mom by fluke when I was 25 and thought it was important we met. They are now best friends and walked down the aisle together at my wedding! It has been very special for me and my family.

@darenmillard That’s awesome! Our 12 yr old met her birth mom a couple of years ago. I wrote a song shortly after they met ... you and your wife may be able to relate. Have a listen:

@darenmillard Your wife did an incredible job sharing your story. I’m an adoptee who has only had one brief conversation with my birth mother. But I’ve gotten to know a brother and sister that I never expected to find. It’s an incredible journey that few understand. Thank you!

@darenmillard @Momin680NEWS Beautifully written and beautifully handled. All of this will be something that requires some careful stickhandling always, but your approach is brilliant and your daughter will benefit from your emotional openness and generosity.

@darenmillard Your wife is a beautiful woman with a huge heart. She is the best type of parent any child could want one that puts her child's needs and wishes above her own.
