Shot 28 min of footage for a video I'm doing on my iPhone. Plug the phone into my PC to copy the video file off the phone so I can edit. Find out
@Apple
doesn't allow you to copy files over 4gb off the phone, at least to a PC. I'm feeling very frustrated and annoyed...

THIS. Also, my iPhones started having random issues just... not copying files. I started using an old Mac and AirDrop as an intermediary. 802.11ac copied twice is faster than USB 2.0 once.

Thanks for reaching out to us. We’d like to look look into what is happening with your iPhone. DM us with some additional details along with which iPhone and version of software you’re using, and we’ll meet you there.

I believe you need to use something like iExplorer for Windows. I transfer huge files from iOS to my Mac with AirDrop quickly, but I don’t believe Apple has a PC version of AirDrop.

Standard industry practice. They want everything to remain within their walled garden. Trying to move content off of an Android phone gives similar results (at least with the phones I've tried, which include Pixel and Galaxy units).
I do not have any solution to this.

What kind of weird limitation is that?! Is it meant to push people further into the apple ecosystem cause "you can transfer files of over 4GB to another apple device"?
Disgraceful ngl.

I transfer all my files to my Mac with AirPlay. If you have a Mac around it might be worth a try. Otherwise maybe Dropbox or Google Drive might be worth a try.

One of many reasons why I boycott apple products. My android phone let's me do whatever I want. It has standard connectors. It's treated like a flash drive if connected. It's the way it should be.

Oh goodness... Thanks, Apple! I have always loved how incredibly difficult it is to get things like getting your pictures and music off your device without jumping thru hoops. Lovely that they restrict video now too. Progress!

I do it all the time. Your issue may be the file system destination. If it’s a portable drive or SD formatted for fat32 there is a 4gb limit. Copy them to an NTFS formatted drive.
