It seems like it can accept a 486 or a 386SX in that socket. The board also appears to have a 16 bit memory data path from the testing I've done.

My firsy PC was an AST and this had some weird modular system where you could plug different processor boards into it, i believe this had vesa sockets as well ,it was a 386 sx 16 but would accept 486 upwards

I have an opti chipset that’s been sitting in packaging for about 2 decades. I’m wondering whether or not I should go through the trouble of trying to design a mobo & get it fabricated...

Probably the only one that would appreciate this old thing... Yes, it works. Gravis Ultra Sound Max with 1024 MB. DOS Doom sounds SO much better.

These pics bring back good memories... One of the many reasons I'm watching Adrian's Digital Basement! This hardware's from the era I liked most working and playing with computers. Today's hardware isn't as fun to modify and play with. Just a personal opinion.
