Such an oddity! 386DX motherboard with 32bit VESA Local Bus slots. Opti 82C495XL chip set.

@craig1black What's the bigger socket is for? Isn't this more like a combo 386/486 motherboard?

@chainq It seems like it can accept a 486 or a 386SX in that socket. The board also appears to have a 16 bit memory data path from the testing I've done.

@craig1black My firsy PC was an AST and this had some weird modular system where you could plug different processor boards into it, i believe this had vesa sockets as well ,it was a 386 sx 16 but would accept 486 upwards

@craig1black I have an opti chipset that’s been sitting in packaging for about 2 decades. I’m wondering whether or not I should go through the trouble of trying to design a mobo & get it fabricated...

@craig1black Probably the only one that would appreciate this old thing... Yes, it works. Gravis Ultra Sound Max with 1024 MB. DOS Doom sounds SO much better.

@craig1black These pics bring back good memories... One of the many reasons I'm watching Adrian's Digital Basement! This hardware's from the era I liked most working and playing with computers. Today's hardware isn't as fun to modify and play with. Just a personal opinion.
