The height of hypocrisy: the Government of Alberta - which has a ban on new renewable energy projects - boasts about how they are supporting wind and solar power in this video made for

This is the message Alberta is bringing to the world at COP28 π
Alberta is an innovation hub, attracting sustainable investments with low operating costs and a skilled workforce.

βOnly the 13 projects before the AUC seeking approval will be paused. That means there are 105 projects inaccurately listed by interest groups that are months, maybe years, away from even getting before the AUC. As the pause will be lifted in February of 2024, the nextβ¦

I love how UCP Alberta videos always show pristine mountains while at the same time welcoming coal mines and clear cutting of thousands of acres of woods in provincial parks. The hypocrisy reeks.
@climatekeith
Your actually incorrect. There is no ban on renewables in Alberta there is a 6 month pause for environmental assessment and end of life project land reclamation assessments.
Alberta is also home to Canada's largest solar generation project - Traverse.

I genuinely hope you read more about Alberta and their plans for energy expansion. There is compelling stuff. Please do more than just parrot headlines, esp. since you teach. It's critical you teach to learn, not teach to repeat.

Alberta currently generates a higher percentage of their power from Wind and Solar than Ontario does. Alberta doesn't have the luxury of hydro (native and imported), not had the load demand for the nukes built during the hayday in Ontario. I'll make you a rare offer:

Fly to Alberta and when you get here, I'll take you on a tour. Show you some pretty impressive renewable projects in person. Some, I might add, you can ride a bike to (albeit a decent ride) from the Calgary Airport. We need to work together Keith.
