@smccarthy55 I'll tag @CDNEnergyCentre in here - care to clarify? Do you "know" oil and gas demand will rise for decades? Is Environment Canada's data wrong? Why should we believe you over the IPCC? #ableg

I can see @smccarthy55 shaking his head at this whopper from the new Energy War Room website. Demand for oil & gas only grows for decades in a world with 3+ degrees of warming so that's a scary thing to just "know" #ableg

@smccarthy55 The Alberta government might hope that oil and gas demand increases for decades to come, but they don't "know" it. And if it does happen, it brings a degree of climate chaos that will devastate the economy, as well as ecosystems and those of us who live in them.

@smccarthy55 And the fact that 2/3 of War Room's budget comes from Alberta's carbon tax is truly weird. Tax polluters to pay for pro-polluter propaganda

@smccarthy55 Let's look at another of the War Room's "facts": "With our industry’s constant and successful quest to reduce its carbon footprint" Here is Env't Canada's GHG data - that rapidly rising blue line represents the carbon footprint of the upstream o&G sector

@smccarthy55 War Room: "we don’t believe that shutting down the modern industrial economy through an abrupt shift away from fossil fuels makes any sense." IPCC: Limiting warming wld require rapid, far-reaching & unprecedented changes but has clear benefits to people

@climatekeith @smccarthy55 @CDNEnergyCentre Their work is going to be a lot harder if they make any attempt to engage with evidence or reasoned arguments. "Rah rah Alberta— to hell with anyone east of Winnipeg or west of Banff" I believe was the @CDNEnergyCentre founding mandate
