Any politician against open primaries is afraid of Idaho voters. And that alone should tell you everything you need to know about them.

Mayville reminded the crowd of the goal of the initiative: “This is not about giving power to one party or another, this is about giving power to voters.” #idpol

@cechrist @MogliRocks We have what are called jungle primaries in California. I like them. The parties don’t. You vote for whomever you want and the top two advance to the general election. The Presidential primary is different though. It’s closed. You have to reregister if you want to crossover.

@cechrist We need more parties, not the ability to sabotage the voters of existing parties.

@cechrist Our elections need reform, but neutering parties is not the answer. Parties should be able to nominate candidates without outside influence. At the end, our general elections should reward parties that nominate candidates who accurately represent the voters.

@cechrist Idaho has always has an issue with who is in control. I’ve seen a lot of “good ole boy” networks but none as bad as the rednecks in Idaho.
