Lacrosse players under 10 years old should not be padding up. They should be playing 3v3 SPEED lacrosse. Learn to pass, catch, groundballs, gameplay IQ, feet and fist defense. 10x’s the touches in half the time.

Kids under 10 should not learn how to win by learning the PAL rules and avoiding real play... 3v3 with emphasis on field presence and basics. Fundamentals not scrums. Just a coach with a kiddo regressing skill set to win games with special rules.

Works in football 5 v 5 flag or 7 v 7 flag until jr high. Same for beginner skiing - no ski poles until the kids master their feet. Our lax coach offers summer speed seasons. The kids have a blast. Honestly, it’s nothing but laughs for the kids. It’s just sticks.

As a corollary, rec basketball & soccer are great ways for youth to learn footwork & team defense, youth football great for getting used to contact & being aggressive - one sport athletes youth thru high school is a mistake!👍
