Lacrosse players under 10 years old should not be padding up. They should be playing 3v3 SPEED lacrosse. Learn to pass, catch, groundballs, gameplay IQ, feet and fist defense. 10x’s the touches in half the time. @GoSpeedLacrosse @WorldLacrosse @Worldlacrosse22

@caseypowell22 @GoSpeedLacrosse @WorldLacrosse @Worldlacrosse22 Kids under 10 should not learn how to win by learning the PAL rules and avoiding real play... 3v3 with emphasis on field presence and basics. Fundamentals not scrums. Just a coach with a kiddo regressing skill set to win games with special rules.

@caseypowell22 @GoSpeedLacrosse @WorldLacrosse @Worldlacrosse22 But if 10 yr old isn’t playing full field with poles how is he ever going to get recruited?

@caseypowell22 @GoSpeedLacrosse @WorldLacrosse @Worldlacrosse22 Works in football 5 v 5 flag or 7 v 7 flag until jr high. Same for beginner skiing - no ski poles until the kids master their feet. Our lax coach offers summer speed seasons. The kids have a blast. Honestly, it’s nothing but laughs for the kids. It’s just sticks.

@caseypowell22 @GoSpeedLacrosse @WorldLacrosse @Worldlacrosse22 As a corollary, rec basketball & soccer are great ways for youth to learn footwork & team defense, youth football great for getting used to contact & being aggressive - one sport athletes youth thru high school is a mistake!👍

@caseypowell22 @GoSpeedLacrosse @WorldLacrosse @Worldlacrosse22 Our options are our options out here. And that’s getting heavier and heavier full-padded travel, & less and less rec league, etc.

@caseypowell22 @GoSpeedLacrosse @WorldLacrosse @Worldlacrosse22 Louder so the programs that put full pads on 6 and 7 yo kids can hear.

@caseypowell22 @GoSpeedLacrosse @WorldLacrosse @Worldlacrosse22 USA Hockey did that with the American Developmental Model, split the rinknin thirds, 5x5, more touches, develop skating and stick skills.

@caseypowell22 @GoSpeedLacrosse @WorldLacrosse @Worldlacrosse22 When we can, @THSwomensLAX and @TurpinHSLax play coed 3v3 in our gyms. Helps both of them to make quick decisions in tight space. Playing with a tennis ball makes their hands softer when they catch the real thing
