The best writing advice i ever got was from lynne sharon schwartz when she opened our workshop by saying, "We are going to read each text assuming it is correct and our presumptions are wrong, until it forces us to decide otherwise; then we will discuss."

@blakebutler A piece of advice of yours I hand out (not sure what interview it was from) is "it's not that satisfying to be published in journals you don't read" (or something to that effect).
