My family, has served in every American conflict dating back to the Civil War, and for those of us still around, including my Dad that did 3 tours in Nam, not one of us (yes I'm a veteran), believe that assault weapons belong in the hands of civilians. Not one.

I hear you there. I haven't fired one since I left the service, and I don't care to. Hunting rifles are about all a civilian needs.

Agreed. There's many fine hunting rifles available for those that hunt. I just want the possibilities of mass casualties alleviated by making weapons of war inaccessible to the average individual. I mean with all that's gone down isn't that a reasonable request?

Familiar- my father was a 1st Marine Guadalcanal x2.w silver star. Peleiu, New Guinea. & unofficially Fort Moseby. Lots of face to face killing. Once home firearms were STRICTLY banned on our property.

Some of the most peaceful people I know were at one time or another involved in or faced with extreme violence in life, and in the end chose to renounce violence. I get that ๐ฏ. Silver Star? Extreme valor on the battlefield. I appreciate your father's service. โฎ๏ธ

Hell yeah brother. My grandpa was in Korea and I was in Iraq. Same thoughts here. I went to a public unsupervised range one day. And I was more afraid for my life than when I was at war. Everyone had an AR and it was the most unsafe thing ever. I left.
