This is my son at church. Years ago I would have been embarrassed. Not only am I not embarrassed but I’m encouraged by his liberty. I pray more churches create environments for special needs families.
I also pray families will overcome their insecurities.

As a young man I quickly wrote off the faith of DMX. Now I understand the complex subjectivity of his spirituality too well. May his life teach us to be honest about pain, success and self reflection .

My son, who is on the autism spectrum, does a lot of scripting & repetitive speech. There are days when this can be quite annoying.
Today, his repetition of “Don’t Worry!” was nothing short of a benediction to my soul.
Let’s be wise to discern affirmation from annoyance.
I’m officially Professor Baraka!
If you would have told me in 2010 I would be teaching graduate students in 2020, I would have looked you straight in your face and said, “Why will it take so long?” 😁
Next step is Dr. Baraka.
My daughter just asked me why I’m not famous like other artists.
She is now homeless.
Nothing tests your insecurities more than your own child questioning your place in life. 😩😩
Church Hurt is legitimate. However the truth hurts as well. Some of what we claim to be Church Hurt is the Truth exposing our inequity and selfish interest.
As the father of two boys with autism I have the concern that their Blackness and their “social awkwardness” will be a compounded threat to IMPATIENCE & COMPASSIONLESS police.
It’s amusing to see “educated” Black folks speak as if Christianity was created in a cauldron of white supremacy.
I’m even further amused that many Christians seek affirmation from the very folks that seek to mock their very identity.

2017 has taught me, no matter the personal obstacles or societal dysfunction, my responsibility to maintain HOPE in JESUS, do JUSTICE and use my platform and resources as a BLESSING for others, shall never change.
#GetWise2018
There is a surplus of information available to us. However there is also a scarcity of comprehension and wisdom.
As the matriarchs in my family would say, It’s ok to “Keep quiet if you don’t know what you talkin’ bout!”
Once again. As a father of two boys on the autism spectrum, to hear that my fatherhood is a sin is a demonic theology and slick eugenics postured as compassion.

In 1957 Mike Wallace(father of Fox News’ Chris Wallace)interviewed Margaret Sanger,founder of
@PPFA
.
She told him what she saw as the greatest sin in the world is.
She also couldn’t say that infidelity is a sin😐
This is rotten root of Planned Parenthood.
I loathe to mention it but in 2012/13 when I was getting dragged by Blacks & Whites for my album Talented Xth many of the folks who are “woke” now were silent and unsupportive. Now I’m not “woke” enough. 🤣🤣
My grandmother, who lived through the Great Depression, Jim Crow, The Civil Rights Acts, many wars, Shaq & Kobe break up, the election of a Black President, Covid-19 and the divorce of Kim and Kanye, just turned 95! God is Good!! Won’t he do it!!

◻️A Comedy Special
◻️The best Sociology class ever
◻️ My favorite Ted Talk
◻️An amazing rally speech.
☑️ All of the Above
Dave, like many artists who constantly use their platform to address injustices, didn’t have to speak but I’m glad he did.
Don’t be bullied/duped into straight ticket voting. Do your research on the local candidates as well as props/amends/referendums, etc.
Local Govt is VERY important.
Kendrick gave us what I expected from a Kendrick Lamar diss. Uniqueness, gravitas, and maturity.
In my opinion, he was writing above the diss track. Fatherhood, Cultural critique, Identity, work-life balance and so much more.
This wasn't a diss. This was mentorship!

Although I’m no Democrat, I praise Stacey Abrams for the significant work of restoring hope and imagination back into GA’s voting process. I hope she gets all the roses she deserves. She enters the pantheon of Black women who have recalibrated America’s political system.
Today my oldest brother, who is new to the Faith, sent me a verse of encouragement from the book of Leviticus.
Also today I learned that my brother is WAY MORE saved than me! 🤣
I’m learning that rest, for me, isn’t just the inactivity of the body but it’s also the inactivity of communication and deep thought.
There is so much learning and growth that happens in a quiet mind.
But we fear irrelevance.
As quasi-libertarian I have ZERO problem w/ private companies denying services to individuals.
Those individuals can choose to protest or create a competing company.
Conservatives should know better as they have lobbied for Religious Liberty.
Don’t move the finish line.
Nope!! Jesus dying for our sins doesn’t belie that he was a threat. However remember he was probably more of a threat to the other “brown” people who killed him.
When I see people reading the Bible in public I like to walk up to them and say, “ I hate to ruin it for you but Jesus dies in the end.”
That way they’re blown away by the plot twist.
After 15 years of marriage I think I have something to say! And here you go!!!

We must make sure that all these companies & orgs that “Stand in Solidarity w/ the Black Community” keep their word when it’s not socially profitable.
Start by 1) reviewing your hiring habits 2) investing in Black start-ups. 3)divesting from anti-Black practices.
#MeanWhatYouSay
There are “Black Evangelicals” who are attempting to shame other “Black Evangelicals” for their proximity to White institutions. Let’s no act like 99% of y’all didn’t get your degrees, platforms and funding from the same White institutions.
The world is so small today and social media can serve us an unhealthy daily dose of pain & pessimism. While we should never grow callous to tragedy, we must also be vigilant to feed our minds with hope and good news.
The same people who say “to make a long story short” are the same people who say “I’m on my way” knowing neither are true!
I know this because I’m that person.
@WokenessG
@dentonbible
As much as I think wokeness has its problems, to say it’s the church’s most insidious ideology in the last 70 years, THIS MAN skipped over White Evangelical silence during 50-60’s, segregation in churches & seminaries, Prosperity pimps, Political expedience of Republicans, etc 🤣
Thank you Malawi! It was a blessing to my soul! I’m always amazed with the reception and education I receive from African countries. Salute the amazing artists as well.
Our theology around “Calling” is often inspiring but it can also be elitist as many folks choose jobs out of the need to provide. Many in the Bible were called to do things they had no desire to do but God “called” them to serve a need. Should calling emphasize need over desire?
Choose Forgiveness! Your bitterness reeks of pride and insecurity. I carried the stench of dead expectations for many years. Forgiveness cleanses the soul.
With the levels of racial animosity Black folks receive, for even the MOST BENIGN political statements, you would have thought White people were:
Enslaved.
Denied reparations.
Forced into segregation.
Terrorized by mobs.
& Denied access into every meaningful institution.
Can we stop assigning every damn practice or idea to Europe & Western Ideologies? It’s satirical that even when attempting to dismantle white supremacy many people are actually perpetuating it.
@AP_Africa
My heart breaks for the souls on board and their families.
My heart breaks for the economic impact this may have.
My heart breaks for those who will have to face their fears by taking this flight in the future.
I’ve taken that route and will most likely take it again.
I come from a theological legacy of resilence (&) hope in the midst of peril:
The organizing of Richard Allen
The courage of Harriet Tubman
The intellect of Anna Julia Cooper
The imagination of Phillis Wheatley
The wisdom of Frederick Douglass

nor Skillet. However, after reading his critique of
@AndCampaign
, he seems to be an example of a conservative who says they “want solutions” but refuses to untether himself from a Christian posture that appears nationalistic. I doubt he read And’s book.
