@alechogg The story is simple & legit. A RSA company leases in this aircraft every year (has for many yrs) between Oct-March to fly to Antarctica supporting some of the EU missions there. They fly in personnel, fuel, undertake medical flights. It’s got zero to do with the Russian & SA Gov

@alechogg I wouldn’t read too much into it. Russian planes have long been used for cargo in Southern Africa for many years, especially during retail season. I remember an AN24 cargo plane into PE years back- 3am, the propellers hadn’t even stopped and he was outside smoking!
