Who is an Aborigine? where is the cut-off? 50 per cent Aboriginality? 25 per cent? 12.5 per cent? Prominent Aboriginal academic, Dr Suzanne Ingram, suggests up to 300,000 of the currently reported Aboriginal population of 800,000 may not be genuine.

@alan_john_moran Best I know the definition will be along the lines of: 1) you have to identify as Aboriginal, and 2) You have to be accepted by your community as Aboriginal. Soooo basically anyone, nothing to do with your ancestry....

@alan_john_moran Agree, that's a fundamental question that I raised, as to what percentage ethnicity would be set as being sufficient to be deemed Aboriginal. For those individuals in our society who are in difficulty irrespective of race, e.g. homeless people, it behoves all of us to consider…

@alan_john_moran Exactly Tasmania is going to have a treaty with “aborigines” despite the fact that no- one can be more than a few percent aboriginal

@alan_john_moran Similar argument could apply to all types of “victims” groups, perhaps as determined by shade of make-up?

@alan_john_moran @DavidLeyonhjelm The cut off is zero percent just like the cut off for being a woman. If you identify as one then you’re good to go. Access to women only and Aboriginal only jobs and funding I’m sure no one will rort that.

@alan_john_moran Even though I was born in England, I now identify as a proud Nunya woman. If anyone asks if I'm really aboriginal, I'll tell them it's all Nunya business.
