With subsidies reduced, "the much anticipated acceleration in the energy transition appears to have flatlined or faltered. As a result, the biggest names in solar and wind across the world are facing financial peril."

@alan_john_moran Let’s cut Australia’s $29B fossil fuel subsidies and see what happens.

@CJPomfret Remove all subsidies. But fossils don't have any - in fact they pay specific taxes that govts'. depict as royalties - and these account for half the cost of brown coal

@alan_john_moran @MRobertsQLD Here we go, get rid of ALL the trees and replace them with mirrors. Soon there'll be no oxygen left, then we won't need the mirrors.

@alan_john_moran Job done though prices now don't need subsidies so can let the market settle into steady share based on cost. Industry can consolidate a bit of course.

@alan_john_moran @mark_perry309 It’s almost like you can’t subsidise high initial cost sporadic power generated when you need it least for an infinite amount of time. Especially when you have essentially stopped investment in cheap 24 hour base load generation. Who knew?

@alan_john_moran Hooray people have woken up that spending trillions on Renewables has been a complete waste of time and money it has not lowered CO2 in fact it has increased the levels of CO2.

@alan_john_moran Without subsidies they would not exist. On a true cost analysis they would fail. A great sales job for Chinese manufactures.

@alan_john_moran Their gravy train has hit the buffers. Masquerading as a credible reliable energy source means they will get found out eventually.

@alan_john_moran Any business that depends on govt subsidies, based on activist based policy, is going to fail. That's about 100% certain.

@alan_john_moran @pleaseuseaussie If the product can’t stand on its own merits, it doesn’t deserve subsidies. Investment into reliable, available and economic solutions is required yesterday. Unfortunately our politicians are unwilling to invest in real options!!

@alan_john_moran Bigger question to ask is - Can the World supply sustainable vegetation & food for 9 bn population, or 10 bn by 2050, w 350 ppm CO2. Bearing in mind 350 ppm requires big reduction in meat protein.
