Another reason why this is bad is that it distracts from one of the most profound spiritual gifts of the sacrament, which is the revelation that sin is boring. All the little salacious details aren't "juicy" or w/e, they're trifling.
Sin isn't unserious, but it is uninteresting.

There was another priest i think i follow on here who recently wrote a lengthy tweet or thread saying ppl aren't providing enough detail in confession 🤷♂️
Catholic instruction really can feel like a confounding maze at times.
