My favourite thing about this picture was that RBG’s husband, Marty, held the Bible as she was sworn in as a US Supreme Court Judge in 1993.
He reportedly told a friend that the most important thing he did in his own life "is to enable Ruth to do what she has done”

I think I need to go read more about that man. That is what I have always prayed to be to the wife God will graciously give to me. I have been doing that in all my previous relationship, I pray God give me more wisdom, strength, resources&humility to make her life&journey easier

on her husband: 'I have the great fortune to share life with a partner who is truly extraordinary for his generation [he was my equal partner] | He was the first boy I ever knew who cared that I had a brain'
And what a brilliant brain/mind she had!"

So you can see the look on his face he's been in the pride what a blessing to have such a great partner who encourages you and allows you to flourish it's very rare in these times to see your true gentleman love his partner wholeheartedly without Malice

Today on the train I sat next to a family with two children. For 2 hours they chatted politely with their parents and read their books. As they left I said to their father how beautiful and well behaved they were. He replied “they are a credit to my wife, it is her hard work”. 😭

if you watch on the basis of sex, he did support her so wholeheartedly, every step of the way he wanted her to win, to have the recognition she deserved even more than him. real good sport.

I'm curious: what is the cloth in her hand on the book? And, is it a bible that Ruth swears upon? Do people of non-christian faiths have to swear on a bible?
